Spanish court orders nurse compensation after staffing complaints

A court in La Rioja, Spain, has ordered a company to pay approximately 62,598 euros (roughly R$ 371,512) to a nurse who was dismissed following complaints regarding staffing shortages.

The Superior Court of Justice ruled the dismissal was unjustified, applying the principle of proportionality. The nurse had been employed by the health insurer since 2007 without any prior disciplinary record or sanctions. The company had justified the termination by alleging professional misconduct and a confrontational attitude toward superiors, specifically citing a disagreement during a clinical session and a subsequent absence from a meeting.

The court's decision requires the company to either reinstate the professional or pay the specified compensation.
