Spanish court proceedings address home invasions and environmental damage
The Provincial Court of Ciudad Real is presiding over two distinct legal cases. In the first, a jury trial has commenced against Iván G. P., who is accused of breaking into two homes in Porzuna during the early hours of December 20, 2025. Prosecutors allege that the defendant, acting alongside Gerardo R. M., forced entry into the residences and issued death threats. Victims testified to being assaulted and sprayed with pepper spray during the incidents.
In a separate case, the court is nearing a verdict regarding alleged environmental devastation caused by the company Cafinsa in the Casaio communal mountains. The prosecution and private accusations are seeking six years of imprisonment for a father and son, along with over 4.5 million euros in compensation. Expert testimony from engineers and surveyors indicated a “grave environmental impact” caused by unauthorized earthmoving and the destruction of approximately 22 hectares of land. While the defense argues a lack of chemical evidence and disputes the timeline of the damage, prosecutors maintain that the company operated without permits between 2013 and 2018.
