Spanish courts convict massage therapist and prosecute university psychologist for sexual assault

A Valladolid massage therapist was sentenced by the Audiencia Provincial to eight years and nine months in prison for three sexual assaults on a female client during therapeutic sessions in November 2024. The court found that the therapist inserted a finger into the victim’s vagina and anus and touched her breasts, causing severe psychological trauma.

In Salamanca, a psychologist and professor at the University of Salamanca is on trial for alleged sexual assault of a vulnerable patient. Prosecutors have asked for eight years’ imprisonment, six years of professional disqualification and a €10,000 fine, while the private accuser’s claim seeks twelve years, the same disqualification and €30,000 compensation. Testimony described non‑consensual hand contact, sexual touching and inappropriate messages.

Both cases highlight Spain’s ongoing legal response to professional sexual abuse and the psychological impact on victims.
