Spanish courts impose long prison terms for sexual assault convictions
The Provincial Court of Lugo sentenced a man to 11 years and three months in prison for a series of sexual assaults, including rape, against a 65% disabled woman who was a regular client at his shop in A Pobra de San Xiao. The court also ordered him to pay €30,000 in moral damages and barred him from contacting the victim for 15 years.
In Pamplona, the Superior Court of Justice of Navarre upheld a 14‑year prison sentence for a man who raped his ex‑wife while she slept and repeatedly abused her son. He was additionally convicted of multiple counts of violence and habitual maltreatment, receiving further custodial terms, a seven‑year supervised release, and prohibitions on approaching the victims. Civil liability includes €12,300 to the ex‑wife and €4,500 to the child.
