Spanish courts issue sentences for drug trafficking offenses

The High Court of Justice of Castile and León has upheld a sentence of six years and six months in prison and an 81,000 euro fine for aggravated drug trafficking. The court dismissed an appeal that sought to reclassify the offense under a more lenient category of the Penal Code, ratifying the original ruling from the Provincial Court of León regarding substances that cause serious harm to public health.

In a separate legal proceeding in Toledo, the Provincial Court is reviewing a case against a repeat offender accused of cocaine trafficking in Talavera de la Reina. The prosecution is seeking a six-year prison sentence and expulsion from the country, citing the defendant's criminal history and lack of ties to the territory. The individual was caught in possession of cocaine and cash intended for distribution.
