Spanish courts process multiple fraud and forgery cases
The Audiencia de Badajoz has sentenced a man to two years in prison and a fine for an ‘affectionate scam’ in which he defrauded his girlfriend of 61,900 euros. The defendant, who has prior convictions for defrauding elderly citizens, used his romantic relationship to secure loans and unauthorized credit card transactions. He is required to repay the remaining balance in monthly installments.
In Palma, the Audiencia Provincial is presiding over the trial of a Monegasque national accused of defrauding three individuals in Mallorca of approximately 73,000 euros. The defendant allegedly posed as an elite Olympic medalist and a multi-millionaire heir to gain trust. One victim, a real estate investment advisor, was reportedly charged with nearly 68,000 euros in fraudulent credit card transactions after being invited to Dubai under false pretenses.
Additionally, prosecutors in Palma are seeking a one-year prison sentence for a man accused of judicial fraud and forgery. The individual allegedly forged a creditor's signature on a private contract with a backdated timestamp to deceive a judge and avoid paying interest on a debt during a monitorio proceeding.
