Spanish courts rule on labor pay and Ceuta port migrant camp

In Spain, two separate legal developments have occurred regarding labor and security matters.

The High Court of Justice of the Canary Islands has declared the unilateral decision by security company P. S. V. to eliminate the monthly distribution of extraordinary pay to its workers as null and void. The court ruled that the company failed to follow the legal procedures established in the Workers' Statute for substantial changes to working conditions. The ruling requires the company to restore monthly prorated payments for employees who were previously receiving them.

In Ceuta, the National Court has rejected a request for an injunction by the Unified Police Union (SUP) regarding the establishment of a new migrant camp within the Port of Ceuta. While the court allowed the project to proceed, it noted that the Ministry of the Interior is responsible for determining safety conditions for agents, migrants, and the public. The Ministry has acknowledged that the camp's location in a critical infrastructure area increases risks, necessitating temporary security reinforcements.
