Spanish courts schedule sexual assault trials in Albacete and Ciudad Real
A trial for alleged sexual assault by a hairdresser and owner of a salon in Albacete is set to begin on Monday, 29 June. Prosecutors say the defendant, identified as J.C.L., repeatedly touched a female employee between 2017 and 2021, culminating in an assault in August 2021 that left the victim with psychological injury. The prosecution seeks three years’ imprisonment, a five‑year supervised release, a 500‑metre exclusion zone around the victim, a ban on contact with minors for six years and €8,000 civil compensation.
In a separate case, a trial in the Provincial Court of Ciudad Real has been suspended after the defence requested a postponement. The accused, O.C.P. of Puertollano, faces charges of ongoing sexual assault against his partner’s 14‑year‑old daughter and 13‑year‑old granddaughter. Prosecutors allege sustained touching and sexual comments, causing post‑traumatic stress in one minor. The indictment seeks eleven years of imprisonment, a ten‑metre exclusion zone of 1,000 metres from the victims, supervised release for up to fifteen years and civil damages of €12,000.
