Spanish cultural events highlight bullfighting traditions and biodiversity

Almodóvar del Río has announced its upcoming bullfighting event for the local Feria, scheduled for Saturday, October 3. The event will feature five novilleros, including Pedro Fernando, Nacho Toro, Pepe Martín, and José Pacheco, alongside José ‘El Duende’. The festivities will involve five bulls from the Cuevas Bajas ranch. A minute of silence will be observed to honor the late local matador Juan Antonio Cobos, known as ‘El Garbanzo’.

In Seville, the Real Unión de Criadores de Toros de Lidia (RUCTL) is launching a traveling photography exhibition titled ‘Toro bravo, guardián de la biodiversidad’ at Puerta de Jerez. The exhibition features 20 large-format photographs designed to showcase the relationship between the fighting bull, its habitat, and the dehesa ecosystem. Organized in collaboration with the Seville City Council, the display aims to highlight the role of extensive livestock farming in preserving biodiversity and supporting sustainable development goals.
