Spanish cycling teams eye Tour de France 2027 invitations
Spanish professional cycling teams Euskaltel-Euskadi and Burgos Burpellet BH are positioning themselves for potential invitations to the 2027 Tour de France. Both teams successfully concluded the 2026 season within the top 30 of the UCI rankings, a key requirement for ProTeams seeking entry into the prestigious race.
Following the recent participation of Caja Rural-Seguros RGA in the 2026 Tour, which ended a long drought for Spanish teams outside of Movistar, both Euskaltel-Euskadi and Burgos Burpellet BH aim to leverage their sporting results to secure a spot. While a top-30 ranking does not guarantee an invitation from organizers ASO, it provides the necessary foundation for consideration based on performance and commercial appeal.
In related developments, veteran cyclist Mikel Landa, who has signed with Euskaltel-Euskadi for 2027, shared insights during the Tour de France 2027 presentation in Paris. Landa noted that the upcoming route, which includes significant time trialing and a stage in the Basque Country, remains highly favorable for versatile riders and expects Tadej Pogacar to remain a dominant force in the competition.
