Spanish Electoral Board orders municipal withdrawals in Gandia and Carlet

The Spanish Electoral Board has ruled that local administrations in Gandia and Carlet violated neutrality laws during electoral processes.

In Gandia, the board determined that Mayor José Manuel Prieto breached the Organic Law of the General Electoral Regime (LOREG) by using an institutional appearance to highlight political achievements and praise Minister Diana Morant. The ruling requires the city council to remove social media posts that presented pending infrastructure projects as completed political successes during the pre-campaign period.

In Carlet, the Valencia Zone Electoral Board ordered the immediate removal of several publications following a complaint by the Compromís party. The board found that the municipality illegally used institutional resources to highlight achievements related to flood reconstruction and to promote Susana Camarero, a PP candidate for the Senate, during an agricultural event. Additionally, the board noted that the council improperly linked the opening of a playground to the actions of the provincial government, which is controlled by the same political party.
