Spanish Eurofighters cancel flag aerial display in Madrid

A planned aerial display by the Spanish Air Force was canceled during the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid. Three Eurofighter fighter jets were intended to fly in formation and release colored smoke to trace the Spanish flag in the sky.

The Ministry of Defense reported that the decision to cancel the color demonstration was made following a ‘technical failure’ during a rehearsal held on Thursday. Specifically, the ‘color bomb’ mechanism failed to function correctly, prompting officials to avoid the risk of a malfunction during the live broadcast of the event.

While the Eurofighters performed a synchronized low-altitude flyover that provided noise and spectacle, they only utilized white smoke. This marked a departure from similar traditions seen at other Grand Prix locations, such as Monza, where national colors are typically displayed.
