Spanish farmers receive over 1.85 billion euros in CAP advances

Spanish farmers and ranchers have received more than 1.85 billion euros in advance direct aid from the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), representing over 70% of the projected amount. Managed by the Spanish Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEGA), these disbursements aim to provide liquidity for the autumn sowing season, covering costs such as land preparation, seeds, fuel, and fertilizers.

FEGA has transferred a total of 2.417 billion euros to autonomous communities, out of an estimated 2.691 billion euros for this advance payment period, which continues until November 30. The European Commission has authorized advances of up to 75% to mitigate the impact of energy and fertilizer price fluctuations caused by conflicts in the Middle East.

Regional distribution shows Andalusia receiving the highest estimated payments at 779 million euros, followed by Castilla y León with 638.6 million euros and Castilla-La Mancha with 445.6 million euros. Other significant recipients include Extremadura and Aragon.

Separately, Julián Martínez Lizán, the Counselor for Agriculture, Livestock, and Rural Development, expressed confidence in the defense of Spanish demands during negotiations for the future CAP. He anticipates a potential ratification of the agreement by the end of the year, noting that while Spain maintains a common position, differences exist between autonomous communities.
