Spain implements safety campaigns to prevent violence at major festivals
Various regional authorities and organizations in Spain are implementing safety initiatives to prevent sexual violence and discrimination during major festivals and public celebrations.
In Albacete, the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha and the Asociación Provincial Empresarial de Hostelería y Turismo have distributed 42,000 reusable cups at the Feria de Albacete. The cups feature the message ‘Cero agresiones sexuales infinita diversión. Respeta mi vaso’ to promote consent and equality.
In the Pla d’Urgell region, ‘Els Punts Liles’ (Purple Points) are providing information and support to prevent violence and LGTBIQ+ discrimination. These spaces offer guidance to citizens and use interactive tools like card games to address gender stereotypes and social roles.
Additionally, the Ayuntamiento de Miranda de Ebro is reinstating the ‘Punto Violeta’ at the Ebrovisión festival. Managed by volunteers, this station provides information on resources, such as the 016 helpline, and distributes awareness materials to ensure a respectful environment for music attendees.
