Spanish film festivals announce upcoming programming

The University of Málaga's Fantastic Film Festival will hold its 36th edition from November 10 to 17. Under the theme ‘Programados para amar’, the event will feature 83 titles, including ten feature films in the Official Section competing for a 6,000 euro prize. The festival will open with the Spanish comedy ‘5 minutos más’, starring Berto Romero, due to a general strike scheduled for November 11. The closing film will be ‘Family Movie’, co-directed by Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick.

Meanwhile, the Gijón International Film Festival (FICX) has announced its ‘Generación Mutante’ section, which focuses on heterodox narratives in comedy, horror, and fantasy. Highlights include the Spanish premiere of ‘Roma Elastica’ by Bertrand Mandico, starring Marion Cotillard, and ‘Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma’ by Jane Schoenbrun. Other notable titles in this section include ‘Full Phil’ by Quentin Dupieux, starring Woody Harrelson and Kristen Stewart.
