Spanish firefighters assist in Ciudad del Este flood rescues

Spanish firefighters from Valencia participated in emergency rescue and evacuation operations in the San Rafael neighborhood of Ciudad del Este, Paraguay. The team, which was in the region for a training program called Ñemosarambi, intervened to assist local volunteer firefighters following flooding caused by a meteorological phenomenon.

The Spanish team included fire instructor Carlos Escamilla Rivodigo, Teodoro Javaloyes Sánchez, Sergio Fernández Romero, emergency specialist Sandra Ricart, and team coordinator Manu Bru. Escamilla noted that while the flooding in Paraguay was a gradual rise of the river compared to the flash floods experienced in Valencia, the vulnerability of the local constructions near the riverbank remains a significant concern.

The rescue efforts were coordinated following an alert from Captain Fátima Silvero of the Cuerpo de Bomberos Voluntarios de Ciudad Nueva.
