Spanish football adopts AI and digital video technology

LaLiga released the Tech Powerhouse 2026 report, an annual observatory that examines how artificial intelligence, big data and advanced analytics are reshaping professional football. The report highlights tools such as the Smart Insights system, which creates real‑time narrative content from match data, and predictive models that help anticipate injuries, optimise line‑ups and enhance scouting, fan engagement and broadcast production.

In parallel, telecom and engineering firm Setesur has equipped 18 sports complexes across the provinces of Almería and Granada with Hudl’s smart video‑capture cameras. The automated system records matches and training sessions without human operators, instantly uploads footage to the Hudl platform and enables live or on‑demand streaming for coaches, analysts and fans. The deployment is seen as a major step in democratising video‑analysis tools for youth and semi‑professional football in Andalusia.
