Spanish foundations roll out summer film series in Badajoz and Cádiz

The Fundación Caja Badajoz opened its summer "Cine de Verano" programme on Wednesday with a 1‑euro screening of "Gladiator II" at the Teatro López de Ayala. The event, aimed at audiences over 16, runs nightly at 22:00, with a limit of four tickets per person. The series will continue with titles such as "Paddington 3" (July 29), "El Conde de Montecristo" (August 5), "Mi vida a lo grande" (August 19) and "Romper el círculo" (August 26), concluding on 2 September.

In Cádiz, the Fundación Cajasol’s summer rooftop cycle "La Actualidad en la Azotea" presented the documentary "Los Pemanes de Pemán" on 20 July. The film, commissioned by the Diputación de Cádiz, revisits the controversial writer Ramón Pemán and includes commentary from journalists, scholars and family members. Its screening coincided with local debate over the removal of Pemán‑related honours under Spain’s Law of Democratic Memory.

Both programmes illustrate regional cultural institutions using low‑cost film events to engage the public during the summer season.
