The second decree, which addresses the more controversial issue of rental stability, proposes an automatic extension of rental contracts until 2028. This measure was specifically incorporated to meet demands from tenant unions and the Sumar party.

These legislative actions follow widespread demonstrations, including a tent encampment at Puerta del Sol, triggered by the eviction of an 87-year-old woman. While the government aims to provide relief to millions, protesters and opposition leaders continue to demand more radical changes to combat rising rental costs and housing shortages.
