Spanish Government faces internal ministerial tensions
Internal tensions are reportedly rising within the Spanish Government. During a recent Council of Ministers press conference, Housing Minister Isabel Rodríguez repeatedly referred to certain investment funds as “vultures,” a term used to criticize the government's economic targets. Vice President and Economy Minister Carlos Cuerpo remained silent during these remarks, despite his previous international efforts to engage with large investors and funds in cities such as London, Tokyo, and Boston.
Separately, Defense Minister Margarita Robles is facing increasing isolation within the Cabinet. Reports suggest she faces criticism from colleagues who view her as aligned with the “deep state.” Tensions have also been noted between Robles and Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska. Robles, who manages the National Intelligence Centre (CNI), reportedly prioritizes national interests over party interests, contributing to her perceived status as a “free verse” within the administration.
