Javier Tebas faces disciplinary action over Real Madrid comments

The Spanish Higher Sports Council (CSD) has referred LaLiga president Javier Tebas to the Administrative Court of Sport (TAD) following controversial remarks regarding Real Madrid. The legal action stems from a social media post in which Tebas compared the communication strategies of Real Madrid and its official television channel to the propaganda techniques used by Joseph Goebbels, the minister of propaganda for Nazi Germany.

The CSD has requested that the TAD evaluate whether these statements constitute a serious violation of Spanish sports law, specifically regarding acts that undermine the dignity or decorum of sport. While Tebas has defended his comments by stating he was referring only to propaganda methods and not to Nazi ideology, Real Madrid has condemned the comparison as unacceptable and has called for his immediate resignation from his roles at LaLiga and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

If found guilty of a serious offense, Tebas could face sanctions ranging from a public reprimand and fines to disqualification from sporting activities for a period of one month to two years.
