Spanish groups hold solidarity actions for Palestine

Various solidarity actions have been organized in Spain to protest the situation in Gaza and honor Palestinian journalists.

In Lanzarote, a citizen platform has called for a peaceful demonstration on September 5. Under the slogan ‘Mójate por Palestina’ (Get wet for Palestine), participants will march from Casa Amarilla to Castillo de San Gabriel. The initiative includes a symbolic gesture where participants may wet their feet or bathe in the sea to express solidarity. The organizers highlighted the humanitarian crisis, citing the destruction of infrastructure and the difficulties faced by UNRWA, while specifically emphasizing the impact of the conflict on Palestinian children.

In Castejón de Sos, the Grupo Propalestino de La Ribagorza organized a memorial during the XXIV Encuentro de Periodismo de Altura. The group placed flower pots featuring the names and faces of Palestinian journalists killed since October 2023 along the path to the event. The protest, which included a banner reading ‘Periodistas asesinades + periodistas callades’ (Killed journalists + silenced journalists), aimed to denounce the silence regarding the conflict and honor media professionals lost in the region.
