Spanish Guardia Civil confiscates illegal tobacco and cocaine shipments

The Guardia Civil’s Fiscal and Border Unit in León intercepted roughly 20 kg of illegal tobacco over the past two months, issuing 14 complaint reports. The seized tobacco was packed in vacuum‑sealed one‑kilogram units without official seals or tax stamps, posing health risks and causing significant tax losses for the legitimate market.

In a separate operation on the A‑4 near Puerto Lápice, agents stopped a 28‑year‑old driver and uncovered 1.166 kg of cocaine hidden in a custom‑built double floor beneath the rear seats of his vehicle. The driver, who was not the registered owner of the car, was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking and transferred to the local Guardia Civil station for further investigation.
