Spanish Health Ministry confirms 35-hour work week commitment

The Health Ministry has confirmed its commitment to implementing a 35-hour weekly work schedule for medical staff. A decree to facilitate this implementation is currently being processed.

According to sources, the department led by Marciano Gómez will soon issue instructions to various departments to ensure the new schedule is considered for shift planning starting in January. The medical union CESM-CV issued a statement to provide reassurance, noting that the commitment to a Monday-to-Friday, 35-hour work week is set to take effect on January 1, 2027.

This agreement was part of the terms reached to end previous strikes conducted by doctors against the regional administration. While the union expressed a need for clear, concrete guidelines to help health centers organize upcoming work calendars, they acknowledged the ministry's intent to provide these directives shortly.
