Spanish health sector leaders discuss medical technology and digitalization

Health professionals in Spain are highlighting the evolving role of technology in dental care and general medicine. Diego Marchirán Ferrández, president of the Official College of Dental Prosthetics of Alicante, stated that the organization aims to bring the college closer to professionals and increase public awareness regarding the specialized role of dental prosthetists.

Ferrández noted that the profession is undergoing a massive digital transformation, incorporating CAD-CAM systems, 3D printing, and digital scanning. He emphasized that dental prostheses are custom medical products requiring high technical and sanitary responsibility.

Separately, Pablo Crespo, Secretary General of the Spanish Federation of Health Technology Companies (FENIN), discussed how technology is reshaping medical practice. Crespo noted that while robotic surgery and artificial intelligence offer improved patient outcomes and efficiency, they also present challenges regarding security and access. He suggested that as technology focuses more on curing, medical professionals will focus more on patient care, particularly as they manage an aging population with increasingly complex health needs.
