Spanish heritage sites face demolition and abandonment

In Salamanca, historic milling structures along the Tormes River face uncertain futures. One century-old mill remains in ruins, while an aceña (water mill) in the Arrabal district has received authorization to be converted into a bar, though work has not yet commenced. Both sites are considered important to the city's visual and industrial heritage, yet they suffer from varying degrees of abandonment.

In Jerez de la Frontera, art historians and heritage specialists are demanding an immediate halt to the demolition of a historic winery located at Calle Circo, 6-8. The experts are calling for an independent heritage report and the inclusion of the building in the local urban catalogue to ensure its preservation. The structure, designed by architect José Esteve y López in 1870, is noted for its historical and architectural value, which specialists argue should grant it the same protections as neighboring buildings on the same street.
