Queen Letizia calls for accelerated cancer research investment

Queen Letizia has called for accelerated investment and international collaboration in oncological research during a forum in Brussels hosted by the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC). Marking the 10th anniversary of an initiative by the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), the Queen emphasized that “cancer research does not have the luxury of time” and stressed the importance of public-private partnerships, early diagnosis, and prevention.

In Ponferrada, Hospital El Bierzo is hosting an educational exhibition titled ‘Cancer research, a millennial challenge,’ organized by the AECC. The display, which runs until September 28, traces the history of oncology from prehistoric evidence to modern breakthroughs such as human genome sequencing and immunotherapy. The exhibition aims to promote scientific dissemination among patients and the public ahead of the AECC’s Solidarity March scheduled for October 4.
