Spanish hotel chains boost presence in Morocco

Eurostars Hotel Company, part of Grupo Hotusa, opened its third property in Casablanca – the Eurostars Californie 4* – adding to the three Eurostars hotels that now total 251 rooms in the city. The new hotel features 58 rooms and a blend of modern design with Moroccan influences, reflecting the chain’s broader strategy to expand across North Africa as tourism in Morocco reaches a record 19.8 million international visitors in 2025.

Barceló leads the Spanish hotel sector in Morocco with 11 hotels spread across Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, Agadir, Fez and Rabat. Other Spanish operators include Riu (six hotels), Iberostar (three), Meliá (one), Soho Boutique (two) and Ona Hotels & Apartments (three). The rapid growth follows Morocco’s strong tourism performance, although the sector is monitoring potential impacts from the recent migration crisis in Ceuta.
