Spanish infrastructure projects advance in Alicante and Málaga

Infrastructure developments are advancing in the Alicante and Málaga regions of Spain. In Alicante, the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has approved a complementary study for the Torrellano Variant. This project aims to connect the center of Alicante with the Miguel Hernández Airport in approximately 11 minutes. The plan involves a 10-kilometer stretch that would increase average speeds from 65 km/h to 90 km/h, significantly improving mobility for a region expecting 20 million annual users.

In Málaga, major strategic projects are underway, most notably the establishment of the IMEC semiconductor center at the PTA. This project requires 600 million euros, with 400 million provided by the central government and 200 million by the Junta de Andalucía. Construction is expected to run from early 2027 to 2028. Additionally, plans are moving forward to expand Málaga Airport to increase its capacity from 30 million to 36 million passengers, a project estimated to cost 1.5 billion euros.
