Spanish journalism history highlighted through media figures and publications

Recent cultural retrospectives highlight the history of Spanish journalism through the lives of notable figures and publications.

Journalist Luis Miguel Montero has released a book detailing the history and internal workings of the magazine ‘Interviú’. Montero, who spent 26 years at the publication, describes it as a unique Spanish invention that combined investigative reporting with provocative social content. The book aims to explain the magazine's role in the country's political and social reality beyond its famous erotic covers.

Separately, historical accounts examine the life of Luis Bonafoux y Quinteros, a prolific and controversial journalist active during the transition from the 19th to the 20th century. Known as ‘the king of chroniclers’, Bonafoux was recognized for his biting, sarcastic, and often scandalous writing style that challenged state institutions and political figures across Spain, France, and other regions.
