Spanish journalists share personal accounts of mental health and family separation

Spanish journalist María Patiño has shared details regarding the impact on her mental health following her departure from mainstream television. She described a period of emotional blockage, uncertainty, and professional isolation lasting approximately eighteen months after the cancellation of her projects on public television and streaming platforms.

Patiño noted that the experience required professional psychological assistance to manage issues such as insomnia and an inability to concentrate. She also expressed disappointment toward former colleagues who have publicly distanced themselves from the television formats that originally brought them fame.

Separately, journalist Marcela Topor reflects on her nine-year separation from her husband, Carles Puigdemont, following the 2017 Catalan independence process. As Puigdemont prepares for a legal return to Spain, Topor discusses the personal and family impact of his long-term absence.
