Spanish court investigates Telegram chat used by hundreds of police officers

A court in O Porriño has opened a secret judicial investigation into a Telegram group named ‘Alerta Policial Pontevedra,’ where approximately 200 to 300 law enforcement officers allegedly shared sensitive and confidential data.

The group reportedly included members from the National Police, the Civil Guard, and local police forces from Vigo and other areas of Pontevedra. According to reports, participants shared criminal records, vehicle data, identification documents, and photographs of individuals outside of official channels and oversight.

The investigation was triggered by a complaint from a National Police inspector in Vigo, who detected the irregular flow of restricted information. The group was reportedly active between November 2020 and early 2026, though it has since been closed. The judicial proceedings are currently under a secrecy order, limiting public information regarding specific diligences or identified participants.
