Chile digital fraud cases reach 12-year high

Chile recorded 41,703 fraud cases in the third quarter of 2025, marking the highest figure in 12 years and a 64.4% year-on-year increase.

A study by TransUnion indicates that one in four Chileans has lost money to a digital scam in the past year, with half of those victims losing more than 1.3 million Chilean pesos.

Criminals are increasingly utilizing artificial intelligence to enhance scams. Vishing—a telephone-based phishing variant—now accounts for 71% of detected phishing frauds in the country. Other emerging threats include audio deepfakes used for voice cloning to impersonate family members or executives.
