Spanish labor unions threaten strikes over meat and agricultural sector disputes

Labor unions in Spain are preparing for industrial action following stalled negotiations in the meat and agri-food sectors. In Tarancón, more than 450 workers, primarily from Incarlopsa and its subcontractors, attended assemblies organized by CCOO to discuss an imminent nationwide strike. The union has warned of a potential stoppage from November 9 to 13 if employers do not agree to a fair collective agreement that addresses wage increases and working hours.

Simultaneously, CCOO has denounced a deadlock in three collective agreements within the agri-food sector in the Murcia region, affecting approximately 70,000 workers. The union claims that employers, including COAG, ASAJA, APOEXPA, and PROEXPORT, have failed to ratify previous pre-agreements. These disputes impact the agricultural, forestry, and livestock sectors, as well as fruit and vegetable processing. CCOO is calling for regional government intervention to resolve the impasse and ensure that the economic weight of the sector is reflected in improved labor conditions.
