Spanish local leaders announce political shifts in A Rúa and Vila-real

In Spain, two local political developments have emerged regarding municipal leadership. Vicente Solarata has announced his decision to leave politics after 44 years of involvement in A Rúa, including 18 years as mayor. Solarata, 70, stated he intends to spend more time with his family. His resignation will take effect at the plenary session on September 7, and Ana Isabel Ares Rodríguez is expected to take his seat. Solarata noted that the local government, a coalition of BNG, RUA, and PSOE, will continue without alterations.

In Vila-real, Mayor José Benlloch has confirmed he will run again for the mayoralty as the leader of the PSOEV candidacy. This announcement follows months of uncertainty regarding his political future. Benlloch, who has held the office since 2011, stated that his decision came after a period of reflection and aimed to provide clarity to the community before the local patron saint festivities.
