Spanish local police conduct road safety and mobility vehicle inspections

Local police forces in Spain conducted targeted traffic safety campaigns between October 5 and October 11.

In Vícar, authorities inspected 149 vehicles as part of a DGT-led initiative to monitor driving distractions. During this period, only one citation was issued for mobile phone use while driving. Mayor Antonio Bonilla reaffirmed the municipality's commitment to road safety through its Road Education Center and ongoing training programs.

In Roses, a campaign focused on personal mobility vehicles (VMP), such as electric scooters and segways, resulted in 83 citations. The infractions included 33 cases of operating vehicles without proper documentation, 24 for failing to wear helmets or protective gear, and 17 involving alcohol or drug consumption. Fines for these violations ranged from 100 to 300 euros.
