Spanish local police forces implement new technology and honors
Local police forces in Spain are adopting advanced technological tools to enhance public safety and operational efficiency. In Barbastro, the local police have integrated into the Aragon Emergency Network using TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) technology. This system provides encrypted communications on independent channels, ensuring reliability even when commercial networks are saturated. The upgrade includes 22 portable radios, three mobile units for patrol vehicles, a fixed station, and GPS geolocation capabilities.
In Salamanca, municipal authorities highlighted the use of technology to support street-level policing. During an annual ceremony, Mayor Carlos García Carbayo noted that tools such as drones and educational speed radars allow for better monitoring of illegal waste, heritage protection, and traffic safety. The event also served to recognize officers for long-term service and retirement.
