Spanish maritime entities promote coastal conservation initiatives

Various maritime and environmental organizations in Spain are launching initiatives to protect coastal biodiversity. In Andalusia, Marinas de Andalucía and the Mediterranean Sea Classroom Foundation (FAMM) will host a webinar titled “Port environments: refuges for seahorses.” The session will introduce the RECAMAR project, which aims to install specialized shelters made of harmless materials in marinas to provide habitats and monitoring opportunities for seahorses.

In the Canary Islands, Puertos Canarios will participate in the “Lights and Oceans” conference at the Elder Museum. This event focuses on the relationship between coastal conservation, night sky protection, and light pollution. The program includes presentations on the development of eco-ports in the Canary Islands toward 2030 and the impact of light pollution on biodiversity and avian species.
