Spanish markets see activity from Santander and Aena

Banco Santander has completed over 80% of its €1.825 billion share buyback program, according to a notification to the CNMV. The program utilizes 25% of the profits earned between January and June, which totaled €7.328 billion. The remaining 25% will be distributed as a cash dividend on November 2, fulfilling the bank's commitment to return 50% of its earnings to shareholders.

Separately, Aena shares rose 2.82% to €26.26 on the Madrid Stock Exchange following improved profit forecasts from Bank of America. The US bank raised its earnings per share projections by 2.3% for 2027 and 16% for 2030, citing higher-than-expected air traffic and increased passenger spending in airport retail. This outlook follows the approval of the new DORA III regulatory framework for airport activity between 2027 and 2031.
