Spanish medical and academic congresses to address AI and mental health

Specialized academic and medical institutions in Spain are hosting congresses to address the intersection of mental health, human wisdom, and artificial intelligence.

The V Congress of the Spanish Society of Clinical Psychiatry will take place on October 22 and 23 at the Campus Universitario Viriato in Zamora. The event will bring together psychiatrists, psychologists, and nursing professionals to discuss topics such as the clinical applications of artificial intelligence in psychiatry, youth mental health, and treatments for resistant depression, including psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and transcranial magnetic stimulation.

In Barcelona, the Ateneu Universitari Sant Pacià (AUSP) will hold a congress from February 24 to 26 titled ‘The Human Person: Head, Heart, and Cosmos’. The sessions will explore the relationship between the digital revolution and human wisdom. Rector Joan Torra emphasized the importance of understanding AI to ensure it serves human growth rather than private interests, while Cardinal Juan José Omella noted that while AI is a useful educational tool, its potential deficiencies must be considered.
