Spanish medical institutions advance cardiac and stroke diagnostic technologies

Researchers at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) are developing EPICA+, a non-invasive technology designed to reconstruct the heart's electrical activity in three dimensions. Led by the COR-ITACA Group, this tool uses computational models and electrical signal analysis to pinpoint the origins of arrhythmias without internal devices, aiming to provide more personalized cardiac treatments.

In a separate medical advancement, the Hospital Universitario Reina Sofía has integrated Doppler studies of supra-aortic trunks and transcranial ultrasound into its routine Vascular Neurology consultations. This non-invasive technique allows neurologists to detect arterial narrowing, occlusions, and other vascular alterations during a single visit. The measure is intended to improve the monitoring of patients who have suffered strokes or transient ischemic attacks (TIA), facilitating faster clinical decisions and reducing the need for additional appointments.
