Spanish military and peace researchers to debate AI and robotics
Two upcoming conferences in Spain will examine the implications of artificial intelligence, robotics, and autonomous systems.
In La Vall d'Uixó, the Spanish Association for Peace Research (AIPAZ) and the Centre Delàs d'Estudis per la Pau will host a meeting on October 22 and 23. The event focuses on the risks AI poses to human rights, democracy, and social justice. Key discussion topics include the environmental impact of new technologies, algorithmic discrimination, and the role of AI in spreading disinformation.
Separately, the Spanish Army (Ejército de Tierra) will hold a conference in Madrid on November 4 and 5 titled ‘The Army and Future Challenges 2026’. Under the theme ‘The Intelligent Battlefield, Algorithmic Warfare’, the event will analyze how AI, sensors, and advanced communication systems can transform military operations, decision-making, and command and control. The sessions will involve military specialists, security forces, and technology companies to study the evolution of modern conflict.
