Spanish military association seeks career and pay reforms

The Spanish Troop and Seamen Association (ATME) has submitted strategic documents to major political parties and the Congress Defense Commission, calling for reforms to the Military Career Law and the current compensation system.

ATME links these demands to recent events in Ceuta, arguing that the armed forces have proven essential for territorial integrity despite facing direct attacks on patrols. The association seeks to align economic compensation with the responsibilities, permanent availability, and inherent risks of the profession.

Furthermore, ATME urges political parties to include these reforms in their electoral programs ahead of the 2027 general elections to address structural issues affecting tens of thousands of professionals, including matters of social protection, military justice, and professional recognition.
