Spanish Minister Félix Bolaños defends government on NATO defence spending and denies Sánchez knew corruption cases

Minister Félix Bolaños told national radio that President Pedro Sánchez informed U.S. President Donald Trump at a NATO summit that Spain’s defence spending has reached 2.1 % of GDP and highlighted the deployment of Spanish troops in the Arctic, the Baltics and Turkey. Bolaños added that Sánchez “did not commit to anything further” with the American leader.

In a separate interview, Bolaños said Sánchez “did not know anything” about the corruption scandals affecting the PSOE, defending the independence of the Audiencia Provincial of Madrid in the case involving Begoña Gómez and asserting that the rule of law functions without political interference.
