Spanish Ministry of Culture acquires 123 photographs for National Center of Photography

The Spanish Ministry of Culture has invested 726,000 euros to acquire 123 photographs from the Juana de Aizpuru gallery for the National Center of Photography (CNF). The collection features works by ten renowned artists, including six women—Ana Laura Aláez, Cristina Lucas, Carmela García, Cristina García Rodero, Cristina de Middel, and Dora García—and four men—Jordi Colomer, Virxilio Vieitez, Pierre Gonnord, and Alberto García-Alix.

Many of the acquired artists are recipients of the National Photography Prize or the National Plastic Arts Prize. The collection aims to preserve the visual memory and evolving photographic languages of Spain over the last half-century. The selection focuses on social and cultural transformations, including themes of identity, territory, feminism, and post-documentary styles that have emerged since the 1970s.
