Spanish Ministry transfers Civil Guard officer linked to Jardun investigation

The Spanish Ministry of the Interior has temporarily transferred a Civil Guard officer from Éibar to a province in southern Spain following his identification in a terrorism investigation. The officer's details were discovered among materials intercepted by the Ertzaintza from two members of Jardun, a group of approximately 300 people opposed to ETA's abandonment of weapons.

The officer's identity and assignment in Gipuzkoa were reportedly found in a document he had previously submitted to the local tax authorities to prove fiscal residency. This document, a copy of the Civil Guard Official Bulletin, was among the encrypted devices and materials seized from the suspects.

National Court Judge Antonio Piña has ordered the provisional imprisonment of the two Jardun members. The investigation also seeks to identify Naoise Conron, an Irish national and member of an IRA dissident group, who was a third occupant of the vehicle and remains at large. Seized materials included maps of weapon caches, lists of Civil Guard officers, and images of training for violent acts.
