Spanish municipal opposition groups denounce local government failures
In Torralba de Calatrava, the VOX municipal group has denounced a crisis within the local government. Spokesperson Daniel García-Villaraco reported significant labor unrest, citing negative results from a workplace environment survey conducted by the firm Vitaly. VOX claims that experienced municipal employees are seeking to leave their permanent positions due to the poor atmosphere, which they argue is impacting public services.
The political situation has also shifted following the resignation of the Culture Councilor, an event that has caused the People's Party (PP) to lose its absolute majority in the council. VOX has proposed returning powers currently delegated to Mayor María Antonia back to the Plenary.
In Toledo, the PSOE municipal group has criticized Mayor Carlos Velázquez for failing to construct any new housing during his current term. Spokesperson Noelia de la Cruz stated that while housing is a central theme in government discourse, no new homes have been promoted or built under his administration. The opposition also questioned the effectiveness of the mayor's 'cohousing' model, suggesting it may inadvertently support tourist rentals rather than providing long-term solutions for local families and youth.
