Spanish municipal pools host swimming tournaments and social programs

Municipal swimming facilities in Spain are being utilized for both competitive sports and social inclusion initiatives. In Úbeda, the fifth ‘Ciudad de Úbeda’ Swimming Tournament was held at the Municipal Pool Complex, organized by the ‘Úbeda Patrimonio de la Humanidad’ Swimming Club. Local officials noted the growth of the sport in the city and highlighted recent facility improvements, including the addition of four new starting blocks.

In Córdoba, the Municipal Sports Institute (Imdeco) has implemented 70 social programs at the Fuensanta and Calle Marbella municipal pools. These initiatives, supported by various social and educational entities, have benefited over 1,000 people this summer. The programs target diverse groups, including youth, people with disabilities, migrants, refugees, and individuals in vulnerable situations, aiming to use sports as a tool for social cohesion and healthy leisure.
