Spanish municipal pools in La Nucía and Mérida set to reopen after renovations
The heated public pool in La Nucía, managed by Emtesport, will reopen on 1 September following a €1.5 million refurbishment. Work has completed two of the three pools, upgraded the gym with Hyrox‑Hyatlón equipment, and doubled the spinning studio. Mayor Bernabé Cano highlighted the investment as a needed upgrade after 20 years of operation.
In Mérida, the Diocles sports complex will open its swimming area on 6 August after €48,300 of improvements. The renovation added waterproofing, new tiling, upgraded landscaping, and extensive accessibility features, including a ramp, handrails, hydraulic chairs and wheelchair‑compatible wet‑area facilities. The pool will operate daily from 12:00 to 21:00 with a capacity of 150 users.
Both facilities aim to provide modern, inclusive services for local residents.
