Spanish municipalities address water turbidity and potability issues
Municipalities in Spain are addressing water quality issues involving turbidity and potability concerns.
In Valdepeñas, the City Council has opted to provide bottled mineral water to staff at the Centro Integral de Formación e Innovación. An economic promotion report linked the issue to aging internal pipes that may contain materials such as iron, lead, or fiber cement. The council noted instances of brown, grey, or whitish water and has launched a 24-month tender for bottled water supplies to ensure worker safety until the plumbing can be fully renovated.
In Soto del Real, turbidity was detected in tap water originating from the Balsa de Los Palancares. The City Council, working with Canal de Isabel II, has advised residents in affected areas not to consume tap water as a preventive measure. To assist the community, water carafes are being distributed at several designated locations throughout the municipality while cleaning operations on the pipes continue.
